Receptor Structures at the Plant-Microbe Interface
Main Focus
Hi, there, in front of the screen.
My academia identity is a structural biologist with general interests on the relationships between microbes and their hosts. I am always fascinated by the species wise interactions and amazed by the beauty of biomolecules' natural designs. I aim to decipher how legume plants drive the directions to rhizobia or mycorrhizal symbiosis via the protein structural aspects.

Proline isomerization and molten globular property of TgPDCD5 secreted from Toxoplasma gondii confers its regulation of heparin sulfate binding. JACS Au. 2024 Mar 20;4(5):1763-1774.Significant result: NMR spectrum of TgPDCD5 describes its flexibility related to its molten globular specialty. This study provided an in vitro angle to reveal the polysaccharide interaction toward a flexible molten globule with intrinsic disorder feature.

Significant result: The crystal structure of the huge (~290kDa) protein glideosome-associated connector (TgGAC) presented a closed ring conformation. TgGAC processed plasma membrane interaction with its C-terminal PH domain as well as actin filament association with its N-terminus. This work suggested GAC contemporaneous multiple conformations.

Elucidating the tunability of binding behavior for the MERS-CoV macro domain with NAD metabolites. Communications Biology. 2021 Jan 27;4(1):123. Significant result: This study investigated that how temperature influence NAD metabolites binding abilities of MERS-CoV macro domain. Remarkably, protein could interact with NAD under human physiological temperature, but lost this interaction under room temperature.

Significant result: The crystal structure of SARS-CoV-2 macro domain reported here was solved within the first year of COVID pandemic. Coupling with the structural information, this study deciphered the inhibition on mono-ADP-ribosylation and the interaction with poly-ADP-ribose of this protein.
