The Center for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture (CENA), situated approximately 150 kilometers from São Paulo's capital in the city of Piracicaba, is a hub for multidisciplinary research encompassing agriculture, nuclear science, and environmental studies. Since 1961 CENA is committed to advancing sustainable agriculture and environmental protection through innovative scientific methodologies.

CENA's research portfolio spans a diverse array of disciplines, including soil science, plant physiology, animal sciences, radiation biology, and environmental modeling. Noteworthy research avenues include pioneering the development of nuclear techniques for animal, soil and plant analysis, delving into the intricacies of nutrient cycling within ecosystems, and scrutinizing the environmental ramifications of agricultural practices. CENA assumes a pivotal role in the monitoring and mitigation of pressing environmental concerns, such as soil degradation and pollution, employing nuclear and isotopic tools to provide precise assessments.
