Functional characterization of MYB transcription factors in Arabidopsis

In plants, MYB transcription factors (TF) play a key role in different aspects of plant development, secondary metabolism, hormone signal transduction, disease resistance and abiotic stress tolerance

We have selected five TFs based on their putative role in plant metabolism. We are currently characterizing the gene regulatory networks for each of the TFs. To do so, we created the following transgenic plants for each of the five TFs:

  1. Over-expressing (OE)
  2. TF derived by estradiol-inducible promoter (allows in-vivo activation of expression of the specific TF upon application of estradiol)
  3. TF-GFP fused protein
  4. knockout (T-DNA insertion lines)
  5. TF-protein expressed in E. coli (for the subsequent purification of the protein).
