Beside representing junior researchers at institute management meetings, I have been active in organizing transferable skills courses for my peers at the MPI-MP (Scientific Writing, Research Funding and Career Development, Team and Leadership Skills, Grant Writing, How to start your own lab). Moreover, I organized career talks (Ralf Neumann – Editor of “Laborjournal” and “Lab Times”; Mary Williams - Features Editor of “The Plant Cell”; Christopher Surridge - Editor-in-chief of “Nature Plants”) and “Foresight Talks” in which renowned plant scientists share their ideas about what science will look like in the future. The scientists I invited were female professors to provide role-models for young female scientists (Alison Smith - Professor at the John Innes Centre, Norwich, UK; Ottoline Leyser - Professor at the Sainsbury Laboratory, Cambridge, UK).
