Abstract:
The assembly of the plant microbiome begins with the inheritance of microorganisms from seeds, which serve as a crucial reservoir of microbial diversity. This talk explores the mechanisms of microbial inheritance, focusing on the vertical transmission of microbes from seeds to subsequent plant generations. Our findings highlight the role of microbial inheritance in the assembly of the plant microbiome and their potential contribution to the coevolution between plants and their microbiome. This knowledge paves the way for strategies to harness microbial inheritance in agriculture and environmental sustainability.
