Job offer from August 11, 2023
Postdoc position (m/f/d) in the research group Epigenetic Mechanisms of Plant Reproduction.
A postdoc position is available in the Köhler laboratory, at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology in Potsdam, Germany. The Köhler lab is interested in understanding the functional role of small RNAs in plant reproduction. Past research revealed that small RNAs have a function in establishing reproductive barriers in the endosperm. The project aims at identifying the mechanism causing the establishment of reproductive barriers by small RNAs and the evolution of the underlying loci. The project will involve the construction of vectors and sequencing libraries, short and long-read sequencing and bioinformatics.
Your profile
The postdoctoral researcher should have completed a PhD in the field of biology and preferably experience in bioinformatics, plant reproduction, or epigenetics. A strong track record in scientific research as demonstrated by a first-author publication or pre-print is required. The initiative to explore potential additional funding sources (e.g. EMBO, Marie-Curie, DFG) is expected. Strong organizational skills and fluency in both written and spoken English is required.
Our offer
We are offering excellent working conditions in a highly international and interdisciplinary research environment with state-of-the art research facilities. The postdoctoral position is for two years initially with the possibility of extension. Remuneration is based on qualifications and professional experience according to the collective agreement for the public service (TVöD-Bund). In addition, social benefits are granted according to the regulations for the public service (Bund).
