My work focuses on gas exchange and Chlorophyll a fluorescence changes in leaves
subjected to rapidly changing illumination. My talk consists of two parts. In
the first part, I will try to shed some light on the processes controlling
photosynthesis in fluctuating light, the most prominent of which are RuBP
regeneration, Rubisco activation state, stomatal conductance and NPQ relaxation.
I will also highlight some knowledge gaps regarding processes that might
additionally be important, such as mesophyll conductance and chloroplast
movement. In the second part, I will describe how the environmental factors CO2
partial pressure, air humidity, soil salinity, leaf temperature and light
spectrum (red/blue ratio) modulate the rate of response of photosynthesis to
fluctuating light.
